Cinema City
2026, Trio exhibition with Leila Rose Bari and Adam Elezrah

In the lobby and entrance area of a bougie residential building in Tel Aviv, Cinema City refers to the chain of multiplex cinemas established in the early 2000s on the outskirts of many cities. I respond to objects I found in my father’s drawers, including his childhood collection of antique coins from different parts of the world, which I transfer through frottage onto old architectural plans of my family home from the 2000s. Other objects include a ball made of rubber bands, held by a black glove that belonged to my dad; a tennis ball covered with my father’s documents, displayed alongside a shoe last from which a chain of cigarettes emerges; and a photograph that my father took and developed himself of a woman he had a romantic relationship with in the 1980s while studying at Camera Obscura School of Photography. I respond to the photograph by recreating the chain of balls she is wearing in the picture.
