At the center of the photograph is a small silver tray. On its surface, a Star of David is drawn with chalk dust. The work was presented in the industrial area of Jerusalem, mounted on an exposed gray brick wall. The title of the work is taken from The Silver Plate (1947), a poem by the Hebrew poet Nathan Alterman. In the poem, the nation “washed in tears and wonder” asks two fallen soldiers who they are. They reply: “We are the silver tray on which the State of the Jews was given to you.”
